Originally inspired by Louis Andriessen’s Hout, we are dedicated to expanding the possibilities of our unique instrumentation (saxophone, guitar, piano, and percussion) through commissioning, collaboration, and improvisation. Since the fall of 2014, we have worked with artists including award winning composers John Mayrose and David Werfelmann to create more than a dozen new works for our ensemble.
In 2016 we completed our first Midwest tour with stops in Oshkosh, WI (UW-Oshkosh), Milwaukee, WI (Bayview Church), Des Moines, IA (Drake University), Lincoln, NE (UN-Lincoln), Minneapolis, MN (Studio Z), and Interlochen, MI (Interlochen Center for the Arts). The tour celebrated the release of our CD of works composed us, Northland. For our most recent project we have recorded a number of improvisations inspired by a Shaker spiritual with friend and frequent collaborator, Jason Koth. One of the recordings will be shared during Lawrence University's Spring Play, "Gint," and the full album will be released at the beginning of June on our Bandcamp. |
